Cinema Columbus is expanding our efforts to include a volunteer-based Festival Assistant program! Without these roles, we could not achieve our mission to celebrate the diverse people and stories brought to life by independent filmmakers, sparking curiosity, conversation, and understanding through independent film.

All volunteers must be able to commit to the Festival dates of September 10-13 and be able to attend a volunteer orientation and required training session(s).
OPEN VOLUNTEER ROLES
FESTIVAL OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
The Festival Operations Coordinator will be responsible for duties related to management and organization of Festival Assistants, as well as key administrative roles related to work of the Festival Director. This role requires a 2-month commitment beginning mid-July and requires full time availability during the Festival dates: September 10-13.
General Responsibilities
- Manage schedule and communication of Festival Assistants
- Be key point of contact for visiting filmmakers, special guests, etc. as they arrive at each screening
- Support the Festival Assistants in their duties, should they need extra hands
- Liaise with venue managers regarding important information as needed
- Maintain email communications with select filmmakers, stakeholders, and guests prior to the Festival as needed
Time Commitment
- This role is expected to require 2-5 hours a week prior to the Festival and up to 12 hours on the days of the Festival.
- The Volunteer Operations Coordinator is expected to work all days of the Festival.
Special Requirements
- Must have valid driver’s license.

FESTIVAL OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
The Festival Operations Assistant will be responsible for duties related to ensuring a warm and comfortable screening experience at our wonderful venues. This role also includes minimal content creation for social media.
General Responsibilities
- Set up and break down tables and other festival materials
- Greet and welcome guests
- Scan tickets and passes at the event entrances to ensure smooth entry
- Use POS tablets and our ticketing system to complete in-person ticket sales, if necessary
- Restock tables with merchandise
- Communicate with visiting filmmakers and guests upon arrival
- Assist the Marketing team with on-the-ground social media content creation
Time Commitment
- This role is expected to require up to 12 hours on the days of the Festival.
- Volunteer Operations Assistants are required to work two Festival days.
